Leadership

Mark Cavaliero, President

Mark Cavaliero grew up in Badin, North Carolina.  He is an Eagle Scout, and a 1990 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics.  Upon graduation, he accepted a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps, where he was trained in tactical radio, computer, and networking systems.  He served on active duty until May 1994 as a Data Systems Officer, responsible for the operation of tactical and garrison computer and communications networks.   He left active duty in 1994 to work as a Systems Engineer for both IBM and National Technology Group before founding SyTec Business Solutions (now Carolinas IT) in 1996.  He currently serves as the President of Carolinas IT, a 54 employee network support firm based in Raleigh. Mark is still a member of the US Marine Corps Reserve, having recently been promoted to Colonel.  His current duty assignment is the Assistant Chief of Staff  (G-6) for the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF) IMA Detatchment in Camp Lejeune, NC.  He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as the Company Commander for the 4th FSSG Communication Company, operating as part of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF) during the 2003 invasion of Iraq.  Mark lives in Apex, NC with his wife Elizabeth and their three children.

Richard Markeson, Chief Operations Officer

Richard Markeson brings over 18 years of technical and business management experience to Carolinas IT.  Specializing in workforce efficiency, Richard produces significant investment returns in business productivity, focusing on refining busines processes as well as business and professional development.  He has 9 years experience as a consultant working with enterprise organizations in many industries including financial, healthcare, education, and retail.  Richard enjoys the challenges of solving distinct problems for complex cultural and technological environments.  Originally a Southwesterner, Richard relocated to North Carolina in 2006.  He now lives in Eastern Wake County with his wife Janet and their four children.  In his spare time, Richard enjoys cycling and serving as a leader in his church.
