Carolinas IT has welcomed 14 new employees over the last month-an increase in headcount of just over 15% in less than five weeks! “As we continue to expand our services to new clients and new markets, it’s essential that we uphold our tradition of outstanding customer service,” said Mark Cavaliero, CEO and Founder of Carolinas IT. “These new team members enable us to continue our 23-year tradition of providing peace of mind to our clients every day.”
Most of the new employees are directly involved in client support. Last year, Carolinas IT rolled out a pod structure that organized the department into specialized pods. Each pod has a designated team lead with 5-6 engineers per pod who work with the same group of clients. “This structure allows our employees to get familiar with the same group of clients and support them more effectively,” said Cavaliero. “When clients call our Service Desk for support, they know they’ll be reaching engineers who are familiar with them and their systems.”
With such a high rate of growth in a short amount of time, Carolinas IT is on track to achieve record-breaking revenues this year. “I’m extremely proud of the growth we’ve achieved over the last few years,” said Cavaliero. “We’ve established ourselves as a trusted partner, expanded our service offerings, and improved our company benefits. I look forward to seeing us continue to grow and evolve together as a team.”

Trey Cox is originally from Jackson, MS. He and his wife Emily moved to Raleigh last May and have loved it. He worked as a Systems Engineer for an MSP in Jackson for the past 5 years. During that time, he had exposure to a multitude of customer environments and enjoys the challenge of the MSP workstyle. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, cooking, and hiking. He is also passionate about technology and how it continues to change society daily.
Rudy Foster is our Charlotte on-site Technical Support Specialist. He is originally from South Carolina and is a transplant to the Charlotte area. Rudy has a Associates Science degree at Spartanburg Community College, CCENT certification, and joins Carolinas IT with approximately 4 years of IT experience. Outside of work, he enjoys going to the movies, online gaming, and exploring all of Charlotte.
Jerry Guy is a Systems Engineer on our Professional Services team. He brings 14 years of experience from a variety of verticals. He got his start in IT at a young age by breaking his father’s computers. (It wasn’t until much later he figured out you could get paid to fix them.) When he’s not at work, he can be found in Asheville, NC hiking in the mountains or trying to tire out his new puppy.
Amanda Huber is a Service Coordinator. This is her first job in the IT field, where she hopes to continue to learn, grow, and advance her career. Before joining Carolinas IT, she was a Technology Assistant at Brier Creek Elementary where she worked with the teachers and administration in the building to make sure the technology in the school was running correctly. She also taught second-grade technology. Amanda went to the University of Mount Olive on a soccer scholarship, where she graduated with two degrees—one in History and the other in Education. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her five-year-old, staying active with running, cycling, swimming, and weightlifting, reading (the Harry Potter series is her favorite go-to books) and watching movies with her son, Noah.
Michael “Mike” Knight is a Technical Support Specialist. He previously worked as an engineer at another MSP for the last three years. He has a degree from Wake Tech in Computer Programming, as well as years of experience with mobile devices. Mike is an “Air Force Brat” who has lived in 3 countries, 2 continents, and 7 states. He and his wife have lived in North Carolina for the last 11 years with their now 2-year-old son and 4 dogs. Outside of the office, Mike enjoys running (avid RunDisney runner), wood turning, and being outdoors.
Michael Lane is a Technical Support Specialist. He is a USAF veteran and North Carolina native. Michael spent most of his career (post-Air Force) as a Systems Administrator. He does home PC repair in his spare time as well as web developing and Python coding. Michael enjoys playing basketball, video games, and traveling. He wants to move into cloud architecture and development as his career progresses.
Jason McDowell is an Account Executive working out of the RTP office. He has lived in the Triangle area since graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2013. From the start of his career, he has worked in technology sales, with experience in the Managed Services space, staffing, and Data Center hosting. During his off time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, newborn son, and dog. When he has the opportunity, he likes to explore the local brewery scene and to play golf (poorly).
Mike O’Neill is a Technical Support Specialist. A “midwestern kid” who moved to NC about 23 years ago after he discovered the winters are better here. He previously worked for 1-800-PACK-RAT as their primary Help Desk support person. He is currently working towards a degree at SNHU while also studying for IT certifications. In his spare time, Mike likes to spend time with his wife and their families, watching anything involving Notre Dame, going to as many Carolina Hurricanes games as he can, and playing golf when weather and time provide him the opportunity.
Michael Pallante joins our Professional Services team as a Senior Systems Engineer.He previously worked for TierPoint where he managed and maintained enterprise customer environments. He has worked for various MSPs through his career. He and his wife Cristen have two children named Brayden and Madelyn. Outside of work, he spends most of his time with his family, reading, and watching movies.
Damien Stone is a Technical Support Specialist. He has lived in Raleigh most of his life with a 4-year gap while serving in the US Army. His previous experience includes working for a medical laboratory company inside the laboratory information systems. Outside of work, Damien enjoys fishing, hunting, reading and caring for his pets.
Chris Ward is a Technical Support Specialist. He has worked in a technical support role for about 13 years in various industries, including ISPs, cell phone providers, financial institutions, and other MSPs. He also has experience dealing with HIPAA compliance in medical offices. Chris is married with two children. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games and watching sports.
Josh Watson is a Technical Support Specialist. He was born and raised in Apex and has lived there his entire life. Josh began working on computers in middle school and continued through high school with classes and an internship at a computer shop. The internship turned into a full-time job and gave him a significant portion of his experience in professional IT and doing break/fix repairs. In his free time, Josh can be found either playing video games, rock climbing, or riding motorcycles with his friends. He plans to pursue some certifications in networking and security.
Malesa Young is an Account Executive who will be focusing on the SLED market. She was most recently at Genworth Financial where she worked as a Sr. Manager for 11 years. Malesa is new to the Sales arena and is looking forward to jumping in. She is originally from Texas and has been in NC for 11 years; currently residing in Apex with her husband, two daughters and a dog. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and enjoying time outside.
