Mark Cavaliero, CEO and Founder of Carolinas IT, has always been passionate about building a company focused on its people. Earlier this year, he launched a Leadership Academy designed to introduce leadership concepts, principles, and best practices for employees who are in leadership or aspire to be leaders. The class was comprised of nine employees from each department across the company who met frequently over the course of six weeks.
“I found the series to be very valuable in several ways,” said Jenn Rendon, who is an Account Executive on our Sales team. “It was nice to have an open dialogue with peers across the company. It was a good approach to self-development and how to handle situations of varying kinds.”
Each employee was tasked with weekly reading assignments and participated in group discussion with topics such as leadership traits, mission tactics, effective communication, emotional intelligence, and operational scenarios.
“Development of up and coming leaders is critical to our growth strategy,” said Cavaliero. “Leaders set the tone and pace for all operations, so providing them with the knowledge and skills to be more effective is one of the most important things I can do to ensure future success.”
“I believe that the Leadership Academy gave me a tool bag,” said Jonathan Joyner, an Associate Systems Engineer from our Managed Services team. “When used correctly, these tools will allow the wielder to better navigate the ever-changing and complex social paradigms and work towards the ultimate goal of synergy.”
“The class and reading materials teach you the importance of really listening, thinking ahead, taking initiative, earning trust, and prioritizing tasks,” said Kelly Booker, who is the Purchasing Manager on our Finance team. “The course also helped us how to effectively deal with conflict professionally and personally.”
The next session of the Leadership Academy is scheduled for Q1 of next year.
