Carolinas IT hosted its fourth annual cybersecurity seminar, Carpe DIEM, on June 13 at the Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, NC. The theme of this year’s event was Incident Response. With over 65 attendees and 10 speakers, everyone left knowing more than they did coming in.
Mark Cavaliero, CEO and Founder of Carolinas IT, kicked off the event with a motivating introduction about what it means to seize the day, some Roman history, and the power of will. The keynote presentation by Kyle Hanslovan, Co-Founder of Huntress Labs, featured a live hacking demonstration that used unsuspecting audience members as vulnerable examples. The message was clear: it’s a matter of time before your organization is the victim of an attack or breach. Are you prepared?
Greg Manson, Director of Security, Audit, and Compliance at Carolinas IT, was the official event emcee. His entire team gave presentations on best practices for cybersecurity as well as tools for success to illustrate ways organizations can minimize their risk for a breach or attack. The afternoon Q and A panel featured industry experts discussing the current threat landscape. Attendees had the opportunity to ask panelists for their insight on some of the security issues they’re facing within the organization.
“I’m so proud of how our team has grown this event over the years to deliver information of value to our clients and friends,” said Cavaliero. “The importance of cybersecurity is clear to professional firms operating today and this event helps them navigate and prioritize their security initiatives.”
The cost of staffing two 24/7/365 positions requires five dedicated employees, which is not always feasible for an organization. By utilizing the Carolinas IT Tiger Team and its partners, organizations can employ cost-effective security solutions that won’t keep them up at night.
The next big event for Carolinas IT is Techstravaganza, which is September 19 at the Hilton Garden Inn.
